Let's Go...

This past weekend was full of activities, this will be the norm through the rest of this month. Thursday night was basketball at Sandy Creek. Unfortunately, we lost, but the house was full! Friday, I covered South Central and Harvard wrestlers at Adam Central. That was a tough meet also. Friday night, I have to admit, was the most fun! It was the Clay Center Fireman's Ball.Every time I have attended this event I have a great time! This year they had dueling pianos again. You start with a meal, this year they also had cheesecake for desert! The fellow patrons can buy beverages, sit back and enjoy. After the meal comes awards. Everyone on the department is recognized for their time spent on the department, and then there are a few special awards. Once the awards and recognitions have been done, it's time to sit back and get ready to laugh. As I said this was the second year with dueling pianos, and they did not disappoint! I laughed and I laughed. I also got called out by the dueling piano guys for posting to the paper's Facebook page, and once yawning... After that incident, I made sure to keep moving, and stay out of the line of vision of these piano players as much as possible! Oh the things these guys can get their audience to do, hehe. I can just say, I am glad I get to stay behind the camera for this event. There was a big surprise this year... a proposal! It was brought into the show, and the finance' was surprised! She said "yes" by the way. It was definitely a night to remember. They ended the event with a silent auction and raffle. Once that is complete, you dance to a few songs, and head home. It was a blast. Thank you to the Clay Center Fire Department for a great night! As for the rest of my weekend, well, I had more events to cover and plans... They were all cancelled as my youngest got very sick! Instead of a fun Sunday, we spent the morning at Convenient Care. We finally got home late afternoon and he was able to rest. He also got some medicine. Poor baby, hate it when my kids are sick! Here we are today going through tons of pictures taken at all these events. We are in a bit of a scramble as we are trying to get things done before this blizzard hits. It will be interesting to see how bad it actually gets, and how much snow we end up with. We did do some extra grocery shopping while in Hastings. Of course, we also started eating it Sunday. Our calendars were booked every day straight through this month. However, it looks like we will be getting a couple days off instead. I'm afraid this will lead to an even bigger scramble by the end of the week. You see, things have already been postponed, and that means everyone will be trying to make up tournaments. Districts and state are just around the corner. It means the same for us, run here and there, trying to cover every event, and all of our schools. Truth be told, I love it. I can hardly wait for all of these events. Once they are over, you won't see me for a week, as I will be exhausted and sleeping. Good luck to all of our teams, we will be there cheering you on!
