Too Serious...
Some days, I look back and think too many of my columns have been too serious. This week, I will write about nothing. Not really, but nothing of importance, and nothing to “make you think.”
I have said before that fall is a favorite in our house. Usually, we have a pumpkin painting party behind our house in an extra garage. This year is the first in about eight that I just did not have time to put on the party.
My girls were terribly dissapointed and my youngest daughter is still trying to convince me we have time...
We will miss it this year, the giggles and screams of kids playing, the glitter covering every surface, along with glue and paint. The food everyone brings to eat. I had to explain to them I am terribly sorry, but it just won’t work. Maybe we can do it again next year.
I haven’t even gotten my fall decorations out this year. Yesterday, I took the kids to our favorite place to purchase pumpkins. We may be short on time, but we still need some to sit around and to carve ourselves.
We ran out of steam, as far as carving goes last night, but will get them done this week. I have some pretty creative kids, if I do say so myself...
Working at the paper, I tend to have Breast Cancer Awareness on my mind, as that is what I have been writing about. Perhaps mine will have that theme this year. Let’s just hope my kids don’t get too creative.
While there may not be the extra noise of laughter and playing, and there may not be paint spread everywhere, we will still have fun. We will also still make a mess! It won’t be quite the same memories they have every other year with the party, but there will be memories nontheless.
My girls love to be creative and make things. They got a couple extra pumpkins to decorate and deliver to some of their favorite people.
Even though we live in the country and no one will see our carved creations, we will still put them out and put candles in them. We will go outside in the dark and admire our handiwork, and maybe post a picture online...
I did still manage to get their halloween costumes!
Each year just gets busier and busier. Karys is getting into more and more sports. Just a couple more years until Brielle adds to our schedule. Saturdays are busy with games, and weeknights are full of homework and practices. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
It is so fun to watch them learn, grow and improve.
Quite frankly, with such a busy schedule, and all the meetings I now attend, I could use my free time to focus on my kids, and forget about everything else going on in life. I can sit back and enjoy the little things every so often.
As it turns out, we actually have an off weekend for sports. My oldest has a birthday next week. It will be a good weekend to celebrate. Happy Birthday, my dear Karys. I hope it’s the best one yet!
